As most of you know I refinish and paint furniture. When a client and I are choosing a color for a piece, whether it is a table, a dresser, or some other item, I always suggest going neutral on the furniture. You might be thinking that neutral is boring. Well, it can be, but it can also be smart. You can always add pops of color in your hardware or decorative items. If you want a blue dresser you should be prepared to decorate around that blue dresser for a very long time unless you have an endless amount of money (which most of us don’t) or unless you can do it yourself. It is not an easy or inexpensive task to whisk these pieces off to a painter. Pillows and other decorative items are so easy and so much less expensive to change out if you get sick of a particular color. If you are like me you love more than one color and you also like change.
In the picture below you will see that I added my color to my decorative items but also on the back of my china cabinet. Most cabinets have a removable back and if I ever get tired of the turquoise (when pigs fly lol…) or want to put this in another room, I can just pop off the back and spray a new color on.
