Painting & Blending

November 28, 2018 //  by Patricia Branch//  Leave a Comment

This antique chest of drawers had seen better days. The finish darkened over the years and although the piece was solid, it needed renewal.

I used DIY Paint for this project. (I sell this product at my shop: it’s the BEST PAINT EVER.) I want to show how well it blended and held up without priming. What makes it unique is that it’s clay based.

The definition of clay is “a finely-grained natural rock or soil material.” That alone sounds like it would adhere well to furniture, and it does.

In my 20+ years of painting, I have never been comfortable to stand behind a paint product that does not require a primer, until now. I love this product!

The DIY colors I used on this piece were Bohemian Blue, Cowgirl Coral, Weathered Wood, Layered Chocolate and Mermaid Tail. I am obsessed with Gold Leaf and used it to add some bling to the legs and edges.

The Paint Pixie brushes I used were perfectly designed for just what I did. They are high quality, hand-designed brushes made in Italy and specially selected by the owner of the company. I used the Blending Brush to make the colors blend well together. I also used the Flat Top 1c for doing the small detail. I used the #8 for all the big areas. Try the Paint Pixie brushes; I’m sure you will never want to use any other brush again.

I sell the DIY paints and Paint Pixie brushes at my shop in Fruitland Park, Fl, but you can use my affiliate link (links below, click on pictures) to order online if you are not able to stop by. I’m confident you will not be disappointed in these products.
