One of my favorite things to do is to take a piece of furniture and transform its function. What I mean is taking something designed for one use and transforming it for a new and different use. When you need something, in particular, you can take a piece of furniture and turn it into pretty much whatever is needed.
For example, this antique hutch was perfect to transform into a wet bar. In this case, a granite top and copper sink were added, mirrors were installed behind the glass doors and glass shelves were made. The shelves are perfect for wine glasses. The drawers are perfect for keeping wine stoppers, openers and whatever else you need storage for. The drawer under the sink was cut short but is still functional. The plumbing is behind the cabinet door, but there remains plenty of storage around it.
The smaller piece was once a 1940’s era Victrola. When I found it the insides had been removed and it needed lots of love and attention. I removed the bottom front and installed a wine rack. Above that, there is a wine glass holder with additional storage. The side doors open and are great for tall liquor bottles. This is high-quality furniture and it will now be loved again. It serves a new purpose and is a great conversation piece. In addition, I can guarantee no one else has a piece like this.
